I don’t have much time to write a post, but want to rant a little—just a little!!
Michigan authorities and the FBI have made arrests in a plot by a”Christian militia” to kill police officers. Their plan apparently included bombing the funerals for the slain officers in order to start an uprising against the government.
Gotta give ’em points for creativity, if not intelligence.
The homegrown terrorist. Here we are, fussing and stewing over the Muslim radicals who we fear are targeting our country. In fact, we should be watching the radical right-wing(nuts) of the “Christian” religion who apparently also hate us.
“Why do they hate us?”
Thank God or whomever-the FBI, local law enforcement, a snitch?- that they were stopped.
What do Glen Beck, Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin have to say about this? I haven’t heard anything from them yet. Maybe I missed it.
This is what you get when you mix easy access to guns and extreme, radical right-wing Christianity, and a media as well as irresponsible leaders who encourage “taking out” others. We really shouldn’t be surprised. This is what all of the hate and anger have been preparing us for……violence. It is only a matter of time.
This is what the Taliban did to Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. A radical, extremist, right-wing religious group wanting to take over the government. Only this time it is Christianity and it is America.
We cannot let it happen here.
Well said!!!!! Damn right!!!! I knew something like this would happen!!!
The God I believe wouldn’t encourage such behavior!!!

First of all, we have heard charges but no details to speak of about this Michigan group. I looked online and about all I found from then was that they believed they were “Christian Warriors”.
There have been claims by the FBI that there were searches by some members on explosives, and that their charges relate to killing a Police officer and attacking people at a funeral. If this is true, they need to go to jail and not pass “GO”. I agree with you.
However, looking back at the destruction of the Branch Davidian “Compound” (Some buildings, but this is how the media depicted it) and the media report of Paedophilia by David Koresh, and hand grenades and a .50 Machine gun, consider this: The charges leveled or leaked to the media never came to fruition. They never found the illegal weapons, and never proved the charges against Koresh.
I do remember being in a local Target at the time when the Koresh “compound” went up in flames and the people near the TV’s were cheering “Burn, baby burn!!”. It does make one wonder if you or I were demonized to that degree if we would not be easy to kill, too.
There is also the issue of the fellow who allegedly threatened Republican Eric Cantor. He believes he is the “Mahdi” or Shiite Muslim “12 Imom”; Have you heard this anywhere? Not me, I had to go and watch some of his videos on Youtube.
I do find it interesting to not hear the word “alleged” in these cases as well. Think about it, we heard that this dude who shot up a military base was “allegedly” the shooter, even when everyone there said he was. I am fine with this, but when it comes to a Christian Militia, it is no longer “alleged”.
Just some thoughts to ponder.

Yup, you’re right. I know better. They are allegations. I should have prefaced my rant to make it clear that my thoughts are based on “If true…..”
Thanks for bringing me up short. We all need that sometimes.

What got me is that these “patriots” are just like all the rest, including their patron saint Tim McVeigh. They’re cowards.
Sure, they can go blow up a building with a day care center in it, or shoot up a childrens’ play at a church, but how many of them will directly confront the cops?

There are those of us “non believers” who often refer to this evangelical political movement as the “Christian Taliban”. These people would impose a theocracy on this country imposing Biblical law on us. This is precisely the sort of tyrany of the majority that Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine warned us about.
