The double whammy

I have been hit with a double whammy.  I have been fighting a horrible cold/flu/bronchitis for nearly 2 weeks.  Then, last night I got the second shot-the stomach flu.  Needless to say, I am just barely here.

Haven’t been able to keep up with all of the news the past couple of days.  One thing did catch my attention, however.

The media has been reporting about President Obama’s “campaign to sell the health care reform bill to the American Public”.

I don’t deny that that is what is happening.  I just don’t understand why it is happening.  The bill has passed.  It’s provisions will become effective over the next few months as it kicks in.  We have MANY other issues which need attention, now that the health care reform package (such as it is) has passed and been signed.

Let’s move on, Mr. President.  If the opposition wants to rant and rave, and try to repeal, let them.  The nation has wasted way too much time and energy over this one issue. Now that there is something in place, let’s go on to another issue-such as DADT, or the two unsustainable wars.  Perhaps, we could get our focus back on the regulation of banks and financial institutions.  There is a lot out there.

Your health reform package has passed,  you don’t need to defend it now.  Let’s get back on offense and move the ball forward with other important issues.  Your timeclock is ticking down………we are now half way through the second quarter.

Okay=back to bed for me.  Hoping that tomorrow is a little better.

  1. Well said!!!! How does it feel to be the voice of reason amidst insanity?

    Hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!

  2. Although I applaud the passage of the health care bill, the provisions will be too little too late for me, anyway. I pay $1,200 a month for premiums for a policy that covers 85% of most (but not all) procedures. The premium alone is 1/3 of my income.

I am happy for the change, but moving at glacial speed does nothing for me, my son who has no insurance right now, and others who are uninsured and need the help TODAY.

Unfortunately the Conservatives want Obama to fail and they don’t care if they hurt real people in the process. There was a time when I was actually a Republican… now I would be ashamed to tell anyone that I was a member of that party. What has happened to this country?
