Okay, this was a crazy day. Almost literally.
This is the snapshot of my day:
13 year-old alleged sex offender;
12 year-old mentally ill and suicidal runaway;
26 year-old psychotic male;
16 year-old girl who looks and acts 13, except when she swears and threatens her parents;
professionals in two counties, at least one of whom has totally ignored me for months;
16 year-old boy whose father is very assertive/aggressive to me (depends on whether you were to ask him or me);
cupcakes at lunch!
Yes, that’s par for the course….except no cupcakes normally. It was a special occasion.
I am very glad to be home. I will be curling up with a few good books and a cup of tea. I finished one book yesterday called “The Help”-I would recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys reading.
Back at it tomorrow.
Have I ever mentioned that I am looking for a different job?
Gee…I don’t know why…… 🙂 Yikes!

Sounds familiar. Nancy did child protective services for way too many years. Glad we’re retired. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, hold on.

I am holding on, waiting to jump off at the next stop….either new job or retirement when I can volunteer.

I cannot begin to imagine. Glad you got a chance to relax at the end of the day. I stay super busy with long hours of working, but the most I have to deal with is annoying, spoiled adults. They can really get to me, but your post puts it all back in perspective. They’re just annoying, spoiled adults who think they can walk all over everyone who doesn’t have their money and power.

I really like the kids. It is the adults who anger me.

Gosh, that is some demanding workload. You’ve more than paid your dues and are so deserving of a new job! Thank goodness you have a method of refuelling your emotional bank: hope you had a good read. Who is the author of The Help?

The author is Kathryn Stockett. It is set in mid-1960’s, in Jackson Mississippi. I think it is still only in hardcover.

So the cupcakes washed away all the other stuff, right?
