Just a short post today.
It is April Fool’s Day. I had planned to post on the fact that the day just isn’t what it used to be, whether due to my age, the fact that society no longer seems to have a sense of humor, or that there really is not much in this world that is funny any more.
But yesterday a friend shared a web cam site. It is in Decorah Iowa, and it is an eagles’ nest. A pair of eagles are hatching their eggs. From what I’ve seen, there are two eggs. They are due to hatch today. So, I have been watching to see what happens. This is the voyeur in me, I guess.
There is no longer any privacy in the world. Even eagles can’t raise their family in private any longer.
But that is another post. Check out the live webcam. Peek into their private lives. Maybe you will see the newly-born stars of the web.
Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go back to watching the parents on the nest.

Nancy was riveted to the computer for months when they had the owl com going – someone set up a cam in an owl house they made in San Marcos, CA. We could watch the chicks hatch until they fledged and finally flew out on their own. Then, as luck would have it, a second clutch was laid. I couldn’t get Nancy to come to bed she was so fixated on that owl cam.

My granddaughter is really into owls. Three years old, and she knows all about them. She loved that owlcam, too. Now they are watching the eagles.

I just saw that she has 2 young and I watched her tear off bites from a dead furry creature at the side of the nest and feed the babies. You can hear their grateful peeps over the sound of the wind!
What a wonderful treat. I’ve got it set up in one corner of my monitor so I can keep an eye on them. I see one un-hatched egg so wonder if it will hatch or be pushed out.
Really appreciate your sharing this bit of proof that Spring is here and life is stirring.

Yes, now that all three of them have hatched, it is even more interesting to watch. It is so obvious which one is the oldest. I am riveted to this site whenever I have a break.

Have shared this link with co-workers and now our local Animal Shelter and two households of children at home with their moms are watching the feed and learning about eagles. Fathers are excited about providing educational opportunity.
