Wow-it is the first week of June. Summer is here. I thought we would never get here. I love it!
Now I am stressing over the fact that the summer is too short. We never have enough time to enjoy it. It seems as though it goes by so fast that we are only starting to relax and bask in all that is summer, and then, POOF! we have snow.
That is not an illusion.
I am planning, planning, planning. Trying to fill every weekend with something fun. My husband works every other weekend, so we really have only half of the summer weekends to enjoy things together. We’ve had one weekend of family time, which was great.
What else? Family reunion, vacation in the mountains, at least one more wedding, yard projects. That leaves a few more weekends to fill.
I feel as though I am on an express train heading to the end of the summer. The stops are going by very quickly, and I am not able to enjoy them. Too soon, I will be sitting here looking at a winter scene. How can I slow it down to thoroughly appreciate this season that I have waited for over the past six nine months?
I’m going to get a Diet Coke and sit on the porch and think about that for a while.
Mind if I bring a beer and join you? 🙂

Imagine something at the end of summer that your really, really want to do and can’t wait to do it. That will slow summer down a lot. Remember how it kept Christmas from ever getting here when you were a child?

That’s a good idea. My birthday is in September. Each birthday comes too soon, but maybe I will think of something great to do this year.

I’d like to join you for a Diet Coke but alas, my summer weekends are already mostly booked as well! Perhaps in the fall, no, same story different season. Winter? crap. Don’t even want to think about it!

You’re always welcome to join me on the porch. Maybe we’ll have to do it on a weekday and play hookey from work.

Unfortunately I ran through too many of my hookey days this past week as I was quite ill. That said, I’m going to drop you an email so we can figure out a good time to meet. I was actually out and about today!

Your winters do seem unbearably long – any chance you could move a few latitudes south? Wasn’t there a Simon & Garfunkel song… “Slow down, you move too fast, you’ve got to make the morning last, skipping down the cobblestones…” Substitute “summer” for “morning.” Seriously, you do know that summer has not even begun yet? It’s still spring for more than two weeks! Slow down! 🙂

I do love that old song. The best way to make it last, I guess, is to appreciate it as much as possible.
