Still kicking

Nothing tastes good.

If you want to make a successful diet pill, just figure out what it is about anesthesia that makes food taste like crap for at least two weeks. My research on the web (one google article discussing the experiences of others) seems to show that this will last for at least another week.

In the meantime, I am eating popsicles-one of the few things that still taste okay-and trying to keep moving on the knee. My therapy got behind by about a week due to the issues with pain medications. The first week after surgery was a nightmare of dizziness, nausea, and feeling close to passing out. None of those symptoms was related to the knee, it was all due to the pain meds. I started taking a different one, which helped, but I still did not feel right. Now I am down to mostly just extra-strength Tylenol except just before my therapy sessions. I am beginning to feel much more myself–for good or bad.

Perhaps this surgery will result in a little less of me……certainly a good thing in the long run.

In case you are wondering, the cherry popsicles are the best.

  1. Cherry Popsicles actually sounds real good. Much better than the homemade “pickle juice” ones the kid makes here….. I can’t even stand the smell of those. Hope you continue to get better! Someone has to kick the TV whenever Bachman starts ranting! 🙂

  2. I was happy about the loss of appetite after surgery as I was able to get a good start on weight loss. The effect wore off just before the holidays and, well, by the New Year I was back. Maybe you will have more luck and resolve.
